in
memory of Betty Clare
1927 to 20 May 2014
Born in China in 1927, the daughter of C.I.M.
missionaries, Betty Clare lived at Chefoo School until
interned by the Japanese during WW2. On returning to England after
the war Betty qualified as a Midwife and attended Redcliffe
Miissonary Training College, Chiswick, hoping to serve as a
missionary herself.
Betty was disappointed not to be accepted by any Missionary Society
due to illnesses she had contracted in China. In 1955 Betty married
Don Clare and they settled in Devon. They had 4 children and Betty
became active in work with children and young people at every Church
they attended.
